Day 13: Champion

Feb 13th, 2021

Hebrews 13.17

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Champion

While I was praying into what to share, I kept hearing Pastor. I would like to talk about Pastor Challenges through a story I heard.

A Pastor of a growing church, thriving church. He and his wife planted the church fifteen years ago, and the Lord has blessed. The church grew, maybe 2000+ people, they have their second building.... and story has many success stories. The staff is healthy, the leadership team is comprised of Godly leaders who are much more than smart business leaders, and the Gospel is preached. All is good right?

While year 15 was cause for celebration the road to their present was filled with obstacles, and heartache. This pastor led through the difficult days with grace and zeal.

A few months later he had visited his pastor and expressed is state of exhaustion. He was discouraged and tired, and his despair made sense. He was always championing, but he had no one championing him.

I felt that this story was hard to hear, and I don't ever want it to be a story of our pastors. If the church had any clue of their struggle, they would immediately come to their aid I am sure. The problem was the same problem that plagues thousands of congregations when it comes to the care of their pastor. People simply forgot.

Thought to ponder

Have we been an encouragement to our Pastors? Have we championed them?

To Pray

Jesus, help me to champion my pastor. Help me to love them, and offer words of encouragement even when I don't think they need it. Help me to stand and pray for them in my prayer times. In Jesus name, Amen!
