Day 18: Desperation

Feb 18th. 2021

Ezra 8.21-23

21 There by the Ahava Canal, I announced we would all fast and deny ourselves before our God. We would ask God for a safe trip for ourselves, our children, and all our possessions. 22 I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road. We had said to the king, “Our God helps everyone who obeys him, but he is very angry with all who reject him.” 23 So we fasted and prayed to our God about our trip, and he answered our prayers.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures. That is also one reason we fast. The Daniel fast is based on the biblical character Daniel, and we go with no sweets and no meat. During this time the bible said we are not to complain that we are fasting though. We are expected to wash our face and comb our hair, during our fast. Jesus also fasted for 40 days, and right after was tempted by the enemy. The Lord He is, got the enemy to leave. Likewise, with the fasting, there will be a lot of canceling of many evil circumstances. Instead, we will endure many breakthroughs, and miracles we have not thought before in our paths. Have faith in God during the fast, and He will prove evil wrong and virtue right. With all the breakthroughs yet to come, Lord Jesus will make you a Winner. Many of us also fast for intimacy of God. That is great. Fast for intimacy with God, not praise from man.

Thought to ponder

As you fast, you will get closer to Jesus. What is hindering you from getting closer to Jesus?

To Pray

Father God, thank you for a great NextLevel Church Family and I pray that we win through this fast. I pray you forgive any of our sins, and realize our fasting is to get intimate with you and have many blessings on our way. With this fast, I pray that we receive many breakthroughs and miracles. Finally I pray we at the end will mostly be praying that we are overwhelmed by your blessings. In Jesus name, Amen
